Anna Blue Profile

By: Anastasia B

Anna Blue is not like normal pop stars that are around these days. She’s not mainstream. She isn’t followed around by paparazzi. She isn’t well known by people, but, she does have fans around the world. She’s like the musician Sia, who hasn’t revealed her face. But instead Anna uses a character that she used to mask her real self, Anna Blue isn’t even her real name! She has never revealed her real name nor a picture of her face. Her real identity is a secret.

She first started making music in 2010, and her fans grew from her first song “So Alone.”

It was posted on YouTube September 2nd 2010. It has 178,553 views as of October 14th 2015; it also has 2,660 likes and 51 dislikes. The video was made by her team and is a 3d animation. If you want to find her YouTube, it is annablutube. Her second video called “Night”, “Nacht,” in German, was posted February 11th 2015. This video is a 2d animation, they did it in that way because doing the third animated video would cost a lot of money. The video has 370,513 views and 7,232 likes. Her third song is called “Silent Scream,” was released August 7th 2015. The music video is set up like a comic. The song has a greater meaning compared to what you might think.

Zoe, the girl in the video, is first shown in her bedroom waking up to her parents arguing about her grades outside her bedroom door. She is later seen with a band aid on one of her arms, in the preview for the video on Anna’s facebook she is shown with scars on her arm from cutting. It was covered up in the final product for reasons. Later on her friend Henry is shown arguing with his mom, like she had been arguing with her parents. When she is at school these popular girls pick on her, and almost everyone can relate to being picked on. Near the end, she is sent to the principal’s office and her mom comes out of the room and tells her that they are leaving. Zoe finally has some courage and says: ‘No!” her mom slapped her in response, and Zoe runs out of the school and to the park and finds Henry. The video ends with Zoe, Henry, Damien, and Anna hanging out together.

This is what Anna said about herself on her facebook. “Anna barely turned 11 years old when she started writing her own songs, a need to give her many feelings a vent. Inspirations were plenty – Dashboard Confessional influenced her just as much as 30 Seconds to Mars. It may be her youth that blurred any style restrictions: Emo, Punk or Gothic have always been equally represented in her music collection – as long as it was true passion that lead the artists.

That is exactly the key element in her songs: they may all just be written by Anna in her room – but there always is that emphasis on true feelings and expressive lyrics.

This candor might be strange for some but it is just this distinction in her thinking, her direct lyrics and her vivid songwriting that make up Anna’s style. A style that speaks directly from the hearts of her many listeners.” Anna Blue was only 13 when “So Alone” was released, now she’s 18 years old and has a successful career in front of her alongside with her partner Damien Dawn.

Furthermore, Anna Blue is a good musician. She isn’t mainstream, super popular and she doesn’t have much out there about her. So what? Just because someone is a musician and is super popular, it doesn’t matter. If you are a young and talented musician, even if you aren’t known around the world, just know that you are heard. You still make a sound. Anna Blue and her partner in music, Damien Dawn, are important to many people and they look up to them. They keep doing their work in music, and it makes people happy.
